Construction Update: March 1, 2017
The Bentway was launched in November 2015 with the aim of transforming an underutilized area under the Gardiner Expressway into a bold vision for a new public space in downtown Toronto.
In an unprecedented collaboration, The City of Toronto, Waterfront Toronto, Judy and Wilmot Matthews, and a new nonprofit, The Bentway Conservancy, along with numerous other stakeholders have propelled the initiative forward over the past year.
We are pleased to share with you the first in a series of project updates. Construction staff will be on-site from the first week of March 2017, and will begin construction in the weeks to come. This process will continue through the winter and spring of 2018. Throughout this process, access to the Fort York National Historic Site and the Fort York Visitor Centre, as well as events will be maintained. Over the coming months, as construction progresses, the Conservancy will be sure to share more project updates with you.
