Pedal-powered music by Tune Your Ride
The Bentway and Tune Your Ride Collective team up to present a special musical showcase on the first weekend of Sunday Social at The Bentway Beer Garden. Listen to tunes from Toronto-based artists For Jane, Charlotte Cornfield, and Just John and marvel at the fact that the whole concert is powered by peddling bicycles.
3:00pm – For Jane
4:00pm – Charlotte Cornfield
5:00pm – Just John
For Jane is a four piece pop/ rock band based in Toronto, ON. Founded by roommates Natalie Panacci and Julia Wittmann in 2016, the band gained Bradley Connor and Zachary Stuckey one year later. Together, the band brings a singer-songwriter sensibility and a darling sense of humour to melodic pop/ rock tunes. The band’s debut EP Married With Dogs is set to release this August.
“Her songwriting is ravenous. Even here, in uneasy happiness, [Charlotte] sounds like she will wolf down her life as fast as she is able. The windfalls, the crises, the concerts, the chance encounters – she’ll sprint through them all, collecting burs. This is work in the tradition of Dylan or Townes Van Zandt” Sean Michaels, The Globe And Mail.
Toronto songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Cornfield has been releasing music for over 10 years, and penning verses for longer than she can remember. A clever and innovative lyricist, she exists in the same continuum as progenitors of song like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, as well as more contemporary writers such as Courtney Barnett, Angel Olsen and Will Oldham. She has collaborated and toured with Anais Mitchell, Broken Social Scene, Lake Street Dive and Ought’s Tim Darcy.
Just John is a Musician and cultural producer based in Toronto. Raised in Scarborough he is the founding member of the art collective, Blank Canvas. Just John mixes forward looking hip-hop with alternative rhythms, and danceable genre bending beats that stem as far back as the 70s. Earning acclaim from Complex, Noisey and the Art Gallery of Ontario Just John is exhibiting audible illustrations for his audience to experience.
