June 25, 2021 Community

The Bentway’s Summer Food Series kicks off July 1st with the return of last year’s successful Communal Picnic partnership with Toronto restaurant and innovative “culinary talent showcase” The Depanneur.

Communal Picnic offers a weekly three-course picnic meal for neighbours and community members to pick up and enjoy at The Bentway or at home featuring rotating local chefs, international cuisine and a truly unique dining experience every Thursday evening.

Each Saturday at noon, beginning July 3rd, The Depanneur and The Bentway have also teamed up to bring guests a weekly Communal Brunch featuring the chefs behind Don Chingón featuring a tasty trinity of Mexican comfort food — Tacos, Tortas, & Tamales — with a Toronto brunch twist.

At check out, you will also be given the opportunity to contribute towards our Pay It Forward initiative. Pay It Forward contributions will be used to provide fresh communal meals for our neighbours at The Spadina-Fort York Community Care Program.

Pre-purchase your Communal Brunch or Communal Picnic meal at thedepanneur.ca.

Please note:

  • All Communal Picnic & Communal Brunch meals must be pre-ordered and will be available for contactless pick-up at The Bentway (250 Fort York Blvd) – rain or shine.
  • Limited on-site seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Masks are required at pick-up and to access on-site washrooms, and we ask that all guests please practice physical distancing while waiting to pick up your meal.
  • In order to minimize waste, please bring your own plates, cutlery, picnic blanket(s) and beverage(s). Please note: Alcohol consumption is not permitted on-site.

And finally, beginning July 13th, The Bentway team will be running a locally sourced produce stand every Tuesday from 4-7pm (or until sold out) outside their new office, The Bentway Studio, at Canoe Landing Campus (55 Fort York Blvd).

The Bentway’s Summer Food Series will run alongside Playing in Public – a collection of 8 outdoor art installations, a connective Play Path, roaming and audio experiences, and more.
