Beginning June 13, The Bentway will offer weekly communal dining opportunities for neighbours and community members. Featuring chefs, food offerings and conversation-starters as curated by Toronto restaurant and innovative “culinary talent showcase” The Depanneur. The weekly dinners will explore Toronto’s diverse culinary traditions. We ask that people pre-register fro $12 in order to help us minimize food waste.

Momos — hearty dumplings of simple dough wrapped around delectable fillings, served steamed or fried with spicy sauce — are probably Tibet’s best known culinary export. In fact, momos are well-loved in many of the countries around the Himalayas, with countless variations in ingredients, appearance and names. But especially in Tibet, momos are not just food; they are also symbols of festivity and celebration. They are served during important social occasions like marriages, New Years and other special family gatherings. Join Tsewang Chodon of TC’s Tibetan Momo, for a taste of traditional Tibetan fare, all made with local, organic ingredients sourced directly from the Ontario farmers they work alongside at several of Toronto’s farmers’ markets.

MENU

  • Khabsay (Tibetan style cookies)
  • Laping: Tibetan Cold Mung Bean & Chili Noodles
  • Beef Momos & Vegetable Momos, with pickled cabbage & homemade hot sauce.
  • Nepalese-style Potato Curry
  • Dre-sil (rice cooked with butter, seeds & dried fruit) with Homemade Yogurt
  • Tibetan Sweet Tea

Pre-registration is requested
Bring-Your-Own-Plates/Bowls/Cutlery
Non-perishable food items will be accepted for donations to local shelters
