Are you brave enough for a polar bear dip? How about a Polar Bear Skate?
The Bentway is bringing back the Polar Bear Skate for the second year… so strip down to your skivvies and join us on our Skate Trail!
This event is free to attend – just bring your skates and you’re good to go. If you don’t have skates, we have rentals available on-site.
All participants must sign a waiver before taking part in the Polar Bear Skate. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
The first 100 pre-registrants (via Eventbrite) will receive a free hot chocolate.

On the day of…
- Sign-in and registration for the Polar Bear Skate on December 29 begins at 1pm. Please make your way to the yellow Bentway registration tent next to the Skate Trail to check in and receive further instructions. Last-minute registrations will be accepted on the day of the event.
- Please leave your valuables at home, or bring a friend to watch your stuff. We have limited lockers (and locks for purchase) available.
- A shot of liquid courage may be tempting, but for your safety, please abstain from alcohol and/or other substances until after the event.
- After skating, warm up with hot drinks on our Corona Après Patio.

Let’s help keep everyone warm this holiday season. In partnership with Project Comfort, The Bentway will be collecting clean and gently used adult winter clothing donations after the Polar Bear Skate, in support of our most vulnerable neighbours seeking shelter from the cold at the local 24-hour emergency respite centres.
All visitors to The Bentway Skate Trail are asked to please abide by our Skate Trail Rules.
