The Bentway Block Party

The Bentway Block Party is back and bigger than ever! Join us on Sunday, August 13 for our annual signature event where live music, roving performances, family-friendly activities, art workshops, street food, and more transform our space into a festive site of community celebration.

Enjoy an afternoon showcase of local DJs curated by ISO Radio, featuring Jelz, Beat Sampras, and dj miss. Throughout the day, catch roving performances by Toronto’s own afro-Brazilian percussion and song troupe Maracatu Mar Aberto and dance collective T.O. Waacking. Hosted by Fly Lady Di.

All-ages are invited to create colourful, upcycled pom poms with artist Jillian Jerat, culminating in a community cheer workshop and performance led by PCT Cheer & Tumble.

Meet us on the dancefloor as a fusion of live and electronic musicians take us into the night. Brooklyn-based artist BAYLI headlines, supported by Toronto’s own dance duo TUSH and DJ Sofia Fly.

New this year, Block Party visitors can explore an artists’ market by Toronto Art Crawl – bringing over 80 local artists and artisans selling photography, sculptures, jewellery, fashion, home decor, and one-of-a-kind items at The Bentway Skate Trail. 

Check out the Bentway Bar for local brews and beverages and a selection of onsite food vendors. Experience our Beyond Concrete seasonal public art exhibit throughout the site too.

A forest of upside-down human bodies grows out of the concrete, set against Toronto’s high-rise horizon. In WOODS, performers’ bodies struggle to maintain their verticality, calling attention to the struggle faced by nature itself: How long can the body resist? How long can our forests survive?

The Aliens of Manila

Nuit Blanche, September 23 with performances at 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 1am

A companion to his installation at The Bentway, Leeroy New’s The Aliens of Manila is a set of sculptural costumes made from locally-sourced discarded plastics. At first glance eye-catching and whimsical, the Aliens call attention to experiences of overseas Filipino workers as an essential, yet invisible workforce across the globe.
