A blog sharing information, activities and events surrounding The Bentway’s 2019 Artist Residenct (Sound and the City).
Running June 13 to August 28, The Bentway’s Communal Table series welcomes a weekly rotation of passionate chefs and diverse culinary traditions that reflect the cultural richness of Toronto.
Community-based workshops, like TRIBE’s yoga, and Eti’s Tai Chi have been a hit at The Bentway, prioritizing inclusivity as a way to welcome all levels of experience and ability.
As these traditional monuments are confronted, what will replace them on the empty pedestals in our public squares and plazas?
Acclaimed Canadian choreographer, Noémie Lafrance, and Mitchell Akiyama, one half of our inaugural Artist Residency, have come together to amplify the live soundscape of Noémie’s upcoming site-specific performance Dérives.
We need to look at the spaces we do have (like the underside of an expressway) and rethink what they can be.
Dérives celebrates the re-purposed architecture of the Gardiner and re-envisions the site as a group navigation enacted through collectively scripted choreographic instructions.
